This morning’s media are once again talking about a “Pay as you drive model” to compensate for a reduction in tax revenue from petrol and diesel fuel duty, as the country starts to use more electric vehicles.
How will this look?
How will they collect the data?
Will there be exemptions for the already squeezed transport and courier sectors?
I would love my business to use electric vehicles but our average journey is about 70 miles, and the infrastructure is not there yet.
What about people that travel as part of their roles, like sales teams and field-based engineers?
Yes I understand sales meetings can be done online, but are we losing the ability to communicate already?
Are businesses not squeezed enough already?
Are we not already taxed enough personally?
