One of my favourite business authors is Jim Collins, he wrote a great book called “good to great”
One of the themes Jim talks about is:
Getting the right people on your business bus, but not just the right people
Are your team in the right seat on the bus.
If your company has your own vans and van drivers there might be a better way.
Following the recent budget and the National insurance rises the cost of employing people has significantly risen.
If you have a vacancy in your business, could one of your drivers, be redeployed to fill that vacancy.
They are already on your payroll, you know they are reliable, they understand your culture.
If you utilise their skills to fill a non-driving position, it could put you in a position where you outsource your deliveries.
If you outsource:
No more unexpected vehicle maintenance bills
No more admin around driving compliance
Fuel rises a bit not your issue
No need to pay holiday or sick pay
No telematics cost
No crazy fleet insurances.
To be clear I am not talking about making your drivers redundant, I am talking about redeploying them.
It is worth thinking about, what do you reckon.
