‘How can I trust you to take care of my product?’
I think this can be best demonstrated by a little story from a few years back.
A few years back I was invited by a Signage company to go in and discuss their same day courier requirements.
After all the intros and pleasantries were exchanged I asked:
“What do you like about your current same day courier?”
The prospect customer delightedly said:
“They turn up on time”
“They deliver within the deadlines”
“The drivers are really friendly and they are competitively priced|”
I then asked “they seem like they are looking after you and you seem to like them?
May I respectfully ask why you invited me in?”
With this question their demeanour shifted and they said:
”Well I am really glad you asked that and I am really glad you have come to see us today”
They have done and regularly do, do all the things I mentioned before but the other day well……………….
They picked up my consignment pleasant and as friendly as ever, and I watched as they took it downstairs, to the van parked outside, then I saw them LAUNCH it into the back of the van.
Now that piece of work was really precious to me and took me ages to get it right and they just threw it, this told me that they could be friendly and pleasant but they really did not care enough about me or my product”
I said “if we treat your products with the same care you do, can I have your business?
The rest is history!
We now have the business because we genuinely take care of the products we deliver as if they were our own.
