‘How do I know the couriers you send in are going to represent my brand appropriately?’
To keep our prices competitive and to enable us to be more flexible, all the couriers we use are owner drivers.
We have a full time resource manager who is tasked with ensuring only the most customer focussed couriers are going to represent us and our customers.
Some of our competitors have a three-point checklist in their courier recruitment process these being:
· Have you got a van?
· Have you got the relevant insurances?
· Have you got a pulse?
If the courier is able to answer two out of the three they are in.
At Proactive we of course want them to have a van, insurances and a pulse but much more besides:
We talk to them around their customer services ethics, we ask them various questions as to how. they would deal with difficult situations on the road.
We basically look for people that we believe will represent us and our customers in a positive light.
In fact we look for people that we describe as “smiling ambassadors”
We look for nice people that are conscientious, and that genuinely will go the extra mile.
In terms of image we insist that everyone that represents us at least looks professional, Hi-Viz safety boots and smart jeans a must.
We cannot abide couriers that think is ok to have their backside hanging out of their Bermuda shorts whilst donning their flip flops and last nights kebab down their top.
Finally because we are using an owner driver model, if we take on a courier that does not work to our standards we can choose not to use them again immediately.
No putting them back on the right track or onerous disciplinary processes.
We have lots of testimonials from our valued customers that we are happy to share with you, but I guess the “proof is in the pudding” and the standard of the couriers that represent us can be demonstrated first hand when you give us a try.
