As I am getting older and uglier, I realise that all things are cyclical.
The good news is that if you are having a bad time in business, you learn it will pass.
The bad news is that if you are having a good time in business, you know it will not last forever.
Last night I attended a webinar hosted by my good friend Stuart Mason about preparing your business for a potential downturn.
Additionally, if you don’t want to be too negative you could always flip this and prepare your business for the inevitable upturn.
I love learning opportunities like this for two reasons:
There are ALWAYS new golden nuggets that than you can introduce into your business to make it more robust.
It also reinforces that you already doing the right things, then that is not a bad thing either.
One of the standout points for me was:
“Well others go quiet, you get loud”
Marketing never stops, at least it shouldn’t.
In downturns business metaphorically take shelter and wait for the storm to pass.
The sensible ones keep marketing.
So that they are always at the forefront of the mind of their existing customers and potential new ones.
I know I will keep beating the Proactive Despatch drum.
