Late last week I suggested that it was not only wd40 that made things creak less.
We also creak far less than overnight parcel services at Xmas.
When I was a lad growing up in the 80’s and starting work in the 90’s the high street was absolutely rammed.
I know because I worked for WH Smith and HMV when they were absolutely flying.
Now everyone gets most of their shopping delivered to home or work.
And mostly with the help of the parcel carriers.
So pinch points are created in the calendar where the service from these guys inevitably comes under scrutiny.
None more so that Xmas and the relatively new phenomenon of black Friday which this year is Nov 28th.
The B2b customers that have given business all year will have their service disrupted by these seasonal spikes.
Consignments delivered late, if at all, consignments delivered damaged, call centres and chat bots overrun with demand about “where’s my parcel”.
It does not have to be this way.
